Mystyria is the name of the world in which I write my stories. When I’m asked about this fantasy land, the number one question I mostly get is: ‘what is your inspiration for Mystyria?’ I assume my inspiration is drawn the same way as all other authors—from our own world. I can’t think of anything more beautiful. Our beloved Earth is filled with lush forests, dank swamps, treacherous mountains, rolling fields, and endless stretches of desert. You don’t have to go very far to find beautiful and interesting scenery to write about. Giving these locales a minor twist can give you quite a unique fantasy setting.

My world is mostly undiscovered. There are three large land-masses; South, Middle, and Northern Corscus. The gods played a major role in shaping Mystyria when the world was new. Those that were good moved toward the south where their cities flourished in the majestic and eventful terrain. Those that were evil took to the north where they congregated in the barren, desolate wasteland.

Lyluss became known as the strongest of the good-natured gods. Her undying devotion to the weak, the needy, and the impoverished was a mighty hammer that was revered throughout Mystyria and struck terror into the hearts of her evil adversaries. She formed a union with Quillian, the goddess of healing and together they sought to vanquish the wicked, the vile, and the plague of gods that were set to rip Mystyria apart in the conquest to control it.

Mydian, the god of the Underworld became known as the strongest of the evil-natured gods and was loved and feared at once by his followers. He formed an alliance with Drak, the true god of evil. Both wanted to lay a new foundation for the world. They believed in a Mystyria born and bred for a stronger race than man.

Mystyria is changing; and with it so are her people. A story is only as good as the characters that dwell in it. I’m a firm believer that characters can act better when they are performing in front of a spectacular backdrop. I invite you to learn more about my fictional world, its people, its places, and its history. In the coming weeks, I hope to move my vast database of Mystyrian lore onto the web in hopes that my readers can glimpse the joy and majesty I feel from living in such a unique world.
